Service History

U.S.S Huntley

After the academy So'vern's first station was the U.S.S Huntley. It was a Saber class ship class ship fast and maneuverable. Smaller than the defiant it still was able to kick but in a fight. So'verns station was security primary and tactical secondary. As soon as he was on board So'vern and the Huntley were ordered o the bad lands to hunt down the Maquis terrorists. With his star fleet training Hirogen upbringing and natural born hunting prowess he shined and he was soon given the position of main tactical officer during the Maquis hunts. Sixteen out of sixteen seek and capture missions were successfully completed to his instinct.

After the tour in the bad lands the Huntley was recalled to Deep Space Nine for some much needed RnR. When the crew was ready to deploy once more the Dominion war his the Alpha quadrant hard and the Huntley was ordered to the defense fleet. The Huntley worked in conjunction with several other ships in the defense of DS9. It wasn't till the second battle of Deep Space nine that the Huntley finally went down valiantly taking a Cardasian Obsidian class war ship with it. So'Vern the ships captain and several of the crew members survived when they were beamed aboard the Ticonderoga. And that was the end of So'Verns career on the Huntley.

U.S.S Prime

So'verns next assignment was part of a small strike force designed to cripple Dominion supply lines before during and after the First Battle of Chin'Toka. He used a Talon class scout ship named the U.S.S Prime (Circa Star Trek Insurection).

“War Stories”

So'vern was asked by a Klingon commander for a war story when he was on a twenty four break in the fighting. So'Vern was happy to oblige began his tale.

“It was before the operation Return, the 'scouting party' I was leading landed on a jungle moon where the Dominion and spoon heads had set up a supply post. We were about nine clicks away when we got started into it. The post wasn't heavily guarded and was easily destroyed.” The Klingon commander stood you and howled “You call this a war story!?” So'Vern slammed his hands down on the table and replied just as forcefully “You bet it is now it gets interesting after we left to outpost as we started back to our runabout. We wound up being pursued by a party of Jim'Hadar. Now I tell you they were some worthy prey resilient, good fighters and fairly creative despite being bread not to think for the selves. When they first hit they killed two of my own I was able to kill their vorta and destroy their supply of their white. As we parted I refused to be hunted any further than what I had been and went on the attack telling the rest of my group to make it to the ship. It was not four Alpha quadrant and one Gama Quadrant Jem'Hadar hunting me as I hunted them.” The Klingon's were starting to get interested and leaned forward to hear more about this glorious tale. So'Vern grinned at them his red eyes piercing the eyes of the commander. “The next time I encountered the jem'hadar hunting party I was able to kill two of them before they destroyed my phaser rifle, one federation flunky taking down two of their own made em rethink their strategy. Funny thing that Gama jem'hadar took a long look at me like he recognized me or well more accurately my people which I don't doubt because he was the hardest to kill of the five of them. The next two in a fit of white withdraws killed each other and that left the Gama. He was a challenge it seamed he didn't actually need the white and kept himself cogent. He was moving for the remains of the supply post to get weapons and equipment and I ran him down. As soon as he started moving he went stealth completely invisible and I had to rely on my ears, tracking ability and even used my nose, he reeked of the white and his scent was easy to follow.” One of the Klingon's boasted “Theres no way you could of smelled him out.” So'Vern sniffed the air around the group and replied calmly “Aside from the overpowering aroma of blood wine there is a hint of some thing human “ So'Vern smirked and continued “Do I smell the tell tell hint of prune juice?” The Klingon embarrassed howled and took a swing at So'Vern which was easily countered by the still sober Sov looking over to the Klingon commander he asked “Shall I continue?” The commander amused and impressed by So'Verns story and the way he handled his subordinate nodded and said “By all means man this is getting really good.” So So'Vern continued “I tracked the Gama down for two days with out sleep or food and we had a stand off at the remains of the supply post and there we fought it seamed like we fought for hours but in the end I was the victor and I claimed my trophy a Kar'Takin blade.” The Klingon Commander replied “Now thats a boast how do we know your story is true?” “Rather its true or not isn't the point you wanted a story” Replied So'Vern “But this one is true” He than pulled out a jem'hadar Kar'Takin blade and stabbed it in the table amongst the ooo's and aaahhhs of the group he was entertaining.

I.K.S Hammer

After the Dominion war ended So'Verns strike force was no longer needed and was disbanded. In gesture of good will and to strengthen ties of friendship the Klingon's and Federation had an exchange of personal for a tour. So'vern volunteered for the duty and he was taken on as gunner for the I.K.S Hammer. It was a bird of prey and it was sent to patrol the neutral zone prior to the Shinzon uprising. Once again So'Verns hunting instincts and experience proved invaluable all through out his stint on the I.K.S Hammer. Two major times was when the Hammer lost track of its prey a group of Nausican raiders. So'Vern took out a shuttle and using his eyes rather than the ships senors which were being fooled tracked them down visually watching the way the particles shifted against the back drop of space. The next time was during a ritual hunt for one of the younger crew members. His ability to track and hunt prey down ensured a successful hunt.

U.S.S Roustabout

After his stint on the I.K.S Hammer he was transferred to the U.S.S Roustabout a Yeager class vessel. The only actual action it saw was during the Shinzon uprising it was part of the battle fleet that was staged to intercept the war bird Scimitar. It never saw any actual combat and So'Vern requested for a transfer to the Potemkin.

Biography

Summary

At warp 9 it would take a ship roughly 65 years to get from Hirogen space to the alpha/beta quadrant, the Hirogen being nomadic people could easily cross that distance in a few generations of hunters. Some time before the Enterprise D gets commissioned a science vessel happens upon a crashed alien vessel which holds a Hirogen child age 5 - 7 old enough to know what it means to be Hirogen but young enough to be influenced by his adopted parents. He goes through the academy and such and gets transfered to his first ship during the Dominion war and with his hunter/scout prowess he earned his ranking.

Extended

So'Vern was discovered on a planet on the edge of the Alpha quadrant by a pair of Xeno-Biologists named John and Elizabeth Shepard. They had no clue what species he was or how to care for him. He was wild and untamed by human standards but they knew that he was going to die alone on that planet and wanted to help. Exploring the ship while So'Vern was out hunting for food the couple discovered that the alien ships computer was still functional. After downloading the main computers information in to their ships computer they began to learn about the new species they discovered. The computer had the history, navigational charts, even training modules for teaching the young children. The soon to be adopted parents of So'Vern took him in to their ship, tended his wounds and fed him his first good meal he had in month, they also took some of the cultural items and examples of weapons and armaments with them aswell. The trip back to federation space took months on board the raven class science vessel. The science team took this time to gain the childes trust and learn about his peoples culture. Upon reaching federation space they gave a short briefing to their piers and when they reached earth they gave a full presentation to the scientific community After the presentation they applied for the adoption of So'Vern and within little time they paper work was pushed through and he finally had a home.

The Shepard's using the information taken from the Hirogen ships computer to try and raise So'Vern in the way of his species. From ritual hunts, to teaching him which war paints meant what for his people and most of all the meaning of the hunt. When they couldn't comprehend the meanings them selves they enlisted the help of some of their colleagues from the more aggressive Alpha quadrant races Klingons, Nausican and others to help them teach him his peoples hunters way and even some of their own. But that wasn't the only schooling he was given, he also received what would be considered a classical education by his parents giving him a well rounded life. When he was 18 he applied to Star Fleet and was accepted. He showed great aptitude for tactical and strategic thinking including and he specialized in security and tactical training in his last years of the academy. When he graduated his parents relieved that they had been keeping some equipment from the crashed Hirogen ship which included his fathers armor. This being a coming of age rite of passage for the Alpha quadrant races they felt that it was aproprate for him to have them now. Soon after graduation he was given orders to the Saber class star ship U.S.S Huntley and the rest could be read above.

Shortly after the U.S.S Voyager returned from its seven year voyage, it was comfirmed beyond a shadow of doubt that So'Vern was a Hirogen. Further more the counceler/ doctor of the U.S.S Voyager gave So'Vern all the files of the Hirogen including culture, Technology that pertained to the Hirogen, and even the frequency of the Hirogen comunications network.
