BASIC BIOGRAPHY

Varric Drosan has been a Federation News Service reporter for over 5 years, hired as one of the few people qualified to serve as an expert on Starfleet matters due to his tour of duty in Starfleet (2371 - 2376), his familiarity with combat tactics, the main players at Starfleet Command, and his degree in psychiatry (utilized primarily as a tool to understand the mind of the Starfleet officer).

In 2385, as part of a combined effort by Starfleet Command and various news organizations, Drosan was selected to participate in an "embedding" of journalists aboard various Starfleet vessels and installations. Drosan's assignment is to the U.S.S. Potemkin for nine months (approximately a little into the beginning of 2386.) Mr. Drosan seemed unhappy with the assignment at first, but has not delineated his reasons, or the cause of his resignation from Starfleet, to anyone aboard the ship other than Commander Bom.

Drosan has returned to the Potemkin on November 5th after an almost two month leave of absence from his career in order to assist a society known as the Shivalti, whom he helped awaken from a perpetual state of mindless torpor watching television.
