In 2384, while exploring the space near the Idran Terminus, the Potemkin intercepted the Ferengi brothers Pelk and Brant who were trying to sell advanced technology to the Ardarti people. Bom and the crew were able to blackmail the two into leaving them alone and seeking business elsewhere.
