Arkia is a desolate planet rendered almost entirely lifeless by the onslaught of the Qualitarians. A handful of Arkian children were known to have survived until an underground complex containing scores of survivors was discovered by the Potemkin following its own showdown with the Qualitarians.

The planet itself in sentient in a way and has a deep connection with all Arkians.
