A fiery nebula and stellar nursery

Otansis System

Otansis System: Singular Star System in the Beta Quadrant 5 LY from Hromi Cluster in Federation Space

Star: - Otansis (Farlang); Class F Star (White). Temperature: about 7,000 Kelvin.

Planets: - Otansis I; Class G Planet (Geocrystalline). Still forming, cools to become a class K - P planet. Diameter: 13,000 km.

  • Otansis II; Class L Planet (Marginal). Rocky and barren, with little surface water. Diameter: 10,000 km.

  • Otansis III; Class Y Planet (Demon). Toxic Atmosphere, over 500 Kelvin on surface. Diameter: 47,000 km.

  • Otansis IV; Class M Planet (Terrestrial). Home to Otansians. Extensive vegetation. Diameter: 13,000 km.

  • Otansis V; Class M Planet (Terrestrial). No indigenous life-forms. Extensive vegetation. Diameter: 11,000 km.

  • Otansis VI; Class D (Moon). Rocky and barren. Diameter: 1,000 km. It is speculated that Otansis VI was once a moon of Otansis VII that broke free of it's orbit.

  • Otansis VII; Class C (Geoinactive). Frozen with a layer of toxic gas on top of the ice shelf. Diameter: 7,000 km. This planet is believed to have once had it's poles reversed, adding to the theory of Otansis VI once being a moon of it.

Points of Interest: Oddly, only Otansis IV and VII have moons. Otansis IV has five moons about it, each named after a different mythological figure. The single moon of Otansis VII, called Otanse, is very odd. It is in geosynchronous orbit of the planet, causing one area to be shrouded in darkness.

The Potemkin became somewhat of a local and modern legend in the Otansis system when it saved Otansis IV from horrible tidal and tectonic shifts.
