Deck 10's centerpiece is the facility without which most of the Potemkin's systems would be useless: Main Engineering. The site of the Warp Core, the Master Systems Display, the Warp Plasma Conduits and more; if the bridge is the ship's brain, Main Engineering is surely its nerve center.

In the event of an emergency, the Potemkin can be operated from Main Engineering directly, bypassing the Main Bridge and Auxiliary Bridge. For this reason, and also the presence of so many critical systems in Main Engineering, it is designated as one of the ship's primary emergency shelters.
