Captain of the SS Pollux, a Miranda class starship turned freighter encountered by the Potemkin in "Return to the Saddle." It was revealed that Rabin's orginal name was David and that he was none other than the son of Potemkin barkeep Jim.

The two had had a rather nasty falling out and Rabin almost did not accept any assistance from the Potemkin when he realized that Jim was aboard. Rabin accused Jim of abandoning him at some point, but it was never revealed the exact cause of his hostile feelings, and the two parted without resolving anything.

According to Jim, they had parted ways sometime before because Rabin/David had fallen for an Orion beauty and elected to stay behind to be with her.
